Gary Beyer has studied sculpture for several years
at the Austin Sculpture Center (formerly Elizabeth Ney Sculpture Center),
working in bronze casting, various metals, cement, and clay. He seeks
to bring his spiritual visions into three dimensional beings as part
of his shamanic quest for healing. Many of his subjects exemplify the
quest for transcendence, whether it is away from pain, confusion, lack
of knowledge, toward spiritual intuition, and freedom. Gary believes
that personality and space that a person selects to place a sculpture
should determine the size and nature of the sculpture. He has transformed
the landscape around his east Austin home and studio into a spiritual
garden. He is currently the treasurer for the Texas Society of Sculptors. |
