Scarlett Olson is from San Antonio and is a graduate
of UT Austin. Her work was strongly influenced by the Mexican culture
through family ties and living in Mexico. She works in oil on wood
and does abstracts inspired by the landscapes of Mexico and the Texas
Coast as well as contemporary symbolic paintings inspired by traditional
Mexican Catholic art. She studied Mexican art while attending La Universidad
Iberoamericana in Mexico City and La Universidad Veracruzana in Xalapa,
Veracruz. Her art education was further developed in her studies at
the College of Santa Fe and finally finishing with a BFA in Studio
Art at the University of Texas at Austin. She shows her work at her
studio and in galleries in San Antonio and Austin. She currently lives
in Austin where she splits her time between painting and pursuing a
music career singing in a latin jazz band called Mashea. |
