I have been carving on this sculpture for 1 1/2
years. The original granite cylinder block weighed 44,000 lbs. and
is 10' tall, 5' diameter. This cylinder was a byproduct of an old local
quarrying technique used until about fifty years ago. Approximately
10,000 lbs. has been carved away. The sculpture is a seating arbor
that supports a steel canopy for wisteria. It is a part of an Art In
Public Places project to be installed in east Austin. |
