With a degree in ceramics and 15
years of experimenting with the medium, has allowed me to continue
to experiment with another
medium, concrete. I am still producing hand thrown porcelain pieces
with a tradition glaze called “Shino” and adding a twist
of carbon trapping (similar to Raku but not). Since last years tour
I also have produced 43 concrete floors and several sets of concrete
counters and am now producing tables for the home. I am fortunate to
score and stain most of the floors for Habitat For Humanity in Austin
houses. Concrete and glazes work very similarly (chemically) and I
enjoy the fact I have little to no control over either medium. Harder is better. |
