I have been using my body and body parts as a
subject matter exploring the idea of identity and anxiety. My figures
are developed with attention to rich tonal variation, and layering
of imagery and color. I am interested in representing the self in both
the physical and psychological state. My current work consists of sectioned
figures in which I imprint my body onto copper plates, through the
printmaking process. The transfer detailing the reality of body surface.
The process modifies and displaces the human form, signifying the relationship
between idealism, reality and perception of the physical self. This
series of prints, like all of my work confronts the ideas between beauty
and femininity. |
