The
painter Alonso Rey was born on April 29, 1967 in Lima, Peru. His
father a doctor and his mother an artist, he grew
up watching his mother paint. Alonso studied at the Joe de Leon School
of Graphic Design, but after two years he realized that painting was
his passion. He entered the Escuela Nacional Superior Autónoma
de Bellas Artes del Perú, Peru’s century old School of
Fine Arts, where he learned the use of color. There he received his
academic preparation to continue his journey of painting. Alonso’s
energetic and subtle brushwork and unabashed love of color is decidedly
realistic. The artist offers in his paintings human behaviors and emotions
derived from his experiences in various periods of his life. His work
has been labeled psychological realism, revealing his fascinating theme
and technique. |
