“We
want more than a mere photograph of nature. We do not want to paint
pretty pictures to be hung on drawing-room walls. We want to create… an
art that gives something to humanity. An art that arrests and engages.
An art created of one’s innermost heart.” Edvard Munch’s Manifesto Although I’ve looked
to these words for direction, I have failed miserably to adhere
to them. In my collection I have both intimate
and extremely personal, symbolic works as well as 'pretty' paintings
from my travels in the Texas countryside and abroad. I like painting
both, so there. |
