Metamorphosis Arte is located at the Rhizome Collective, a non-profit
center for urban sustainability and community organizing. In addition
to providing low-rent space to community activist organizations,
the space includes a community print shop, pottery, puppet, stilt-walking,
bicycle parade building space and gallery. Members are commissioned
to create public art for social change in numerous media, including
puppetry, parades, murals, mosaics and prints. Cycle Circus Austin
and Buscando el Monte share the studio space. They teach and perform
with local community groups and schools and have been contracted
to build and perform with giant bicycle puppets and Cuban conga music.
