Dutch artist Marja Verhaar Spearman is continuing to develop her series “the ties that bind.” She talked and dreamt about her passion for years, dabbled all along, worked, raised Ahmad and Jihan, and then focused. Relocating within Austin interrupted her work more than anticipated. This took her by surprise, having been accustomed to changes, while working and studying in Europe, and on the East and West coasts of the U.S. But here she is now, tied up in knots and bound to a series of large sculptures.
