Using a camera, I capture or stage an instant in time that depicts
a universal moment. I bring myself into that moment when I translate
it into a painting - and by painting that moment, I compel the viewer
to spend time with it, therefore giving the moment more significance
than it might have originally had. I invite the viewer to step into
that moment - to linger and spend some time with it, and then, with
themselves, their own lives, and their own memories, allowing them
to recognize or recall the simple, universal beauty of everyday life,
of human existence and of human interaction.
