Caroline’s work explores the abstract terrain of memory, creating a place that references the real, if not the visible. The painting is an escape from the literal world, inviting the viewer into a long-forgotten, though familiar, silence. Graduating from Brown in 2004, Caroline moved to Paris and worked the burgeoning art collective La Générale. Post-bac certification in Pont-Aven, France gave more structure to her work. Caroline returned to Austin in June, 2006, to pursue painting in her hometown. She spent this past August in residence at the Vermont Studio Center and focuses on bringing a contemplative practice into the process of art-making.
