Benné is a storyteller fundamentally, and has probably been
influenced by a rich tradition of Southern literature and storytelling
as part of her New Orleans heritage. She is also a story-listener
or facilitator, a therapist and teacher who listens and helps people
turn that story around to see all the sides of it. Her love for materials
is like a writer’s love of language. It is a visceral and emotional
engagement. Benné is a contributing writer to the visual arts
section of The Austin Chronicle.
