Arthur Simone grew up
wanting to be a cartoonist but fell in love with the heightened
expression of line and color from painters like
Roberto Matta and Hassel Smith. Since moving to Texas, he’s
been gradually trading his palette of cadmium reds and yellows for
cool greys and cobalt blues. In addition to recognition as a painter
(finalist for 2007 Hunting Prize), Arthur performs and teaches improv
at the new ColdTowne Theater, won this year’s O’Henry
Pun-Off and went to New York to represent Austin in the national
Air Guitar Championships.
