Alicia Hartzell travels
the world, capturing images of peaceful, picturesque places with
her camera. These photographs become “sketches” for
her paintings. Her work is infused with the memories and beauty of
the places she has been and her desire to engage the heart and find
balance. She paints with acrylic, allowing the paint to viscerally
find its way onto the canvas. Her tool of choice is the palette knife,
its indefinite rendering allows her to pull back from reality just
enough to open the mind and the heart to the possibility of is and
what could be.
