ABOUT E.A.S.T.

Welcome to the 10th anniversary of the East Austin Studio Tour! This self-guided tour celebrates the rich wealth of talent of East Austin's large and wildly diverse creative community. Since 2003, artists on the east side have been opening their doors for the now annual East Austin Studio Tour. This year, we're proud and a little amazed to present the 10th tour, and it's really a great one. The 2011 East Austin Studio Tour is a free event, capped by two weekends and spanning nine days. From 12 - 20 November, we invite you to explore the over 300 artist studios and exhibition spaces, and take part in a multitude of diverse art events.

The East Austin Studio Tour is a once a year opportunity to discover new artistic talent, see working studios, learn about artists' tools, techniques, and inspirations, and of course to support your arts community by building your collection and supporting local businesses. Whether your art collection is big or small, living with original artwork in your home makes life more beautiful. It can start as just a tiny spark.

But before you head out, we'd also like to ask you to keep in mind that most of these studios are part of residential neighborhoods. Our E.A.S.T. neighbors have been so gracious and welcoming to visitors over the years, and it's important to return the favor by being courteous and respectful to the neighborhoods while you're out perusing. We want you to have fun, explore, and see something new. Just make sure you don't block driveways or leave anything for our lovely neighbors to have to pick up.

And it's fall in Austin! We encourage you to bicycle, carpool, or take a bus as you explore all that this year's East Austin Studio Tour has to offer, and enjoy yourself.

E.A.S.T. is produced by Big Medium, an Austin-based non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to promoting the arts.

FRIENDS OF E.A.S.T.

FRIENDS OF E.A.S.T. is a different kind of fundraiser for a different kind of program. The East Austin Studio Tour is about people coming together as a thriving community invested in the past, present, and future of Austin's creative culture. E.A.S.T. continues to flourish because of the people and their passion for the visual arts and the artists who create it. We are seeking Friends of E.A.S.T. as an invitation to our community to be invested in its own growth and success. Becoming a Friend is $20 for everyone across the board, because we believe that great things happen when many give a little, instead of a small few giving a lot. The support of more community members means a better catalog, more promotion, a bigger audience, and more impact.

In thanks for the support, Friends of E.A.S.T. will receive:

  • A guaranteed copy of the 2011 E.A.S.T. catalog before it is available to the public
  • An invitation to CATA-LAUNCH, the catalog premier party
  • The 2011 Friends of E.A.S.T. sticker
  • Just click the button below and follow the directions to make your $20 charitable donation.
